2010 Sweet Home Athletics Hall of Fame
7506_43521_1.pngCeremonies of induction for the Sweet Home Sports Hall of Fame took place Friday, October 1 at Classics V Banquet Center in Amherst. This year, 6 athletes and 2 coaches were inducted.

The athletes in the Class of 2010 are:

William Kaarid (Class of 1977) – William played volleyball, swam and ran track for the Panthers from 1974-1977. He was a member of the State Championship Swim Team in 1977 and was Sweet Home Athlete of the Year in 1977.

Richard Cicero (Class of 1984) – Richard played varsity volleyball for the Panthers in 1982-1983. He was All-WNY in volleyball and later played volleyball at the college level for the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Lenore Davis (Class of 1990) – Lenore was a member of the Sweet Home Girls Varsity Volleyball team from 1986-1990. She was a member of the team that held the record for the most consecutive wins and was ranked 8th in the country as an outside hitter. After graduating from Sweet Home, Lenore attended the University of Georgia on a full scholarship.

Jessica Andrasko (Class of 1991) – Jessica was a three sport star in volleyball, basketball and softball for the Panthers from 1989-1991. She was a member of the All-State team in all three sports and was named Sweet Home Athlete of the Year in 1991. She played volleyball for Bowling Green University following graduation.

Izeal Bullock (Class of 1991) – Izeal played football and ran both indoor and outdoor track for the Panthers from 1989-1991. He was an ECIC 1st Team All-Star in football and a State Qualifier in both indoor and out door track in 1991. He still holds the school record for shot put at 53’7”.
Derek Zgoda (Class of 1991) – Derek played both football and baseball during his athletic career at Sweet Home. He was a 1st Team ECIC All-Star in baseball in 1990 and 1991 and played baseball for Canisius College and was signed to a free agent contract by the New York Yankees in 1998.

John Michno and Ron Tatar were inducted as coaches. Michno coached football for the Panthers for 22 years and also coached modified lacrosse. Tatar coached every level of wrestling at Sweet Home for 28 years and had a varsity record of 146 wins and 64 losses. He also coached girls and boys cross country for the Panthers.

Each inductee was presented a Hall of Fame plaque and was honored at halftime of the Sweet Home-McKinley football game on Saturday, October 2.
